Being a single mom for 3 years now, finding my lifetime partner can be challenging. It is important that you have established connection and trust to someone before making any decisions to go official. Since my failed marriage, I have a series of short-term relationships but weren’t anything special. In fact, I have never met anyone special in my life. That someone who will make me feel whole and complete and all that crappy dramatic shit women are gushing over. I don’t know if that would ever happen to me. You see, I was married really young and the idea of love back then seems to be the kind of love that most stupid women fell for. I am forced to get married and have kids because it seems like that’s the normal thing to do. If you are married to someone, you are obligated to serve your husband and give him kids. That’s the Filipino culture.
Now that I gained back my freedom, the question that keeps niggling my mind is that what would it be like to find your soulmate? that future “partner for life”?
Last Saturday, I was so inspired by the stories told by Piolo Pascuai, Inigo Pascual, Enchong Dee, Matteo Guldicelli, and Charo Santos Concio on how they found their “Partner For Life”. Each of them revealed who their lifetime partners are, in a deeply personal campaign which they co-created with Sun Life Financial dubbed ‘Kaakbay: Stories of Lifetime Partnerships.”
At the center of the campaign is a set of videos which shows how their lives were made brighter with the help of their respective lifetime partners, who believed in them, supported them, and inspired them.
“It was a very emotional experience developing my video with Sun Life,” Enchong confessed. “When I saw the finished product, I couldn’t help but cry”.
Matteo had the same sentiment. ”This is it as real as it gets. The authenticity of emotions was clearly captured in the videos, and I look toward to sharing it with everyone.” he said.
Meanwhile, Charo marvelled at the experience of sharing her own story. “Seeing an important part of my life immortalized through the video brought back so many memories that I share with my lifetime partner”.she said. “It was unnerving at first but in the end, it was a beautiful way to pay tribute to someone who impacted my life in so many ways”.
What inspired me the most was Mrs Charo Concio’s story. We shared the same preferences when it comes to men. If a man can engage me in a conversation and can pique my interest, then I am hooked. Intelligent men can melt our stony hearts.
